Annual Good Friday concert, April 22, 2011, “A Time to Weep:  Music for Good Friday”,  in conjunction with the Calvary Presents Concert series, April 22, 2011, at 7:30 pm, in the historic sanctuary of the  Calvary Baptist Church, 755 8th St. NW, Washington, DC  20001, the fifth in our annual presentations of rare and seldom-performed sacred works. This year’s concert features music by Max Reger and Johannes Bach on the theme of the well known hymn “O Haupt voll Blut und Wunden (O Sacred Head Now Wounded)”, that most famous tune written by Hans Leo Hassler, but known to us from Bach’s setting included in his Matthaus-passion.

Elaine Dalbo, Soprano; Susan Sevier, contralto; Jason Rylander, tenor; Dr. Cheryl Branham, conducting the Chalice Singers and Ensemble, at the Calvary Baptist Church in downtown Washington, DC. All proceeds benefit the Shalom Scholarship fund, which supports the education of young students in El Salvador. For more information, click here.
