The angels sing that they are here to reward the good children who are failthful to the Christ-child and good at home and school, with tasty goodies. These goodies are for the children only, not for the grown ups!

The bad children ( bösen Kind) will get their "treats" from Ruprecht (also Rutenmann, or Rod Man), who is one of the evil elves that accompanies St. Nick in Germany, handing out sticks to children who have not behaved during the year.
